He was a past worthy patron in the Order of the Eastern Star of the Jackson and Braxton chapters.

Pete was blessed to have had had an opportunity to serve as music director for many years at First Baptist Church of Braxton, Calvary Baptist Church of Braxton and Coat Baptist Church of Magee. During these years, he enjoyed volunteering at Methodist Rehab in Jackson.

In retirement, he enjoyed several years teaching at Simpson Academy and working for the Department of Commerce-Census for seven years as a field representative.

Pete is survived by his wife, Laura Dale Lanius Simon; son, Charles Britain Simon (Norie); daughter, Kembral Lynn Simon Barrera (Jose); sisters, Jackie Foster, Donna Hunt; four grandchildren, Leo Simon, Alexander Barrera, Anna Lynn Barrera, Ava Barrera; nieces, Alexa Clair Simon Ferguson (Alex), Alex Ferguson Jr, Ashley (Rob), Aimee Foster; nephews, Stewart Howe Simon Jr. (Cindy), Jeff Wedgeworth, Jaden Wedgeworth, Jana Wedgeworth, Stephen Foster (Joann) and family. Also special thanks to the Burney family, who made me their number “13”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Simon and Hazel Asbury Smith Simon; brothers, Charles Jess Simon, Stewart Howe Simon; sisters, Mary Helen Simon Everett, Aimee Clair Simon Arnold.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church, Braxton, MS, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 4, at Calvary Baptist Church with interment following in Braxton City Cemetery. Bro. Maurice Bryant and Bro.
