Major Renovation Planning Underway at Magee General Hospital

MAGEE, MS – Magee General Hospital (MGH) officials are approaching the final planning stages of an upcoming construction campaign, which is slated to begin later this fall.

The project includes a major overhaul of the facility’s existing footprint and is intended to improve access points between key service lines that jointly provide patient care, enabling a more streamlined experience for patients and more efficient workflows for clinicians and staff. Updating the hospital and making accommodations for future industry developments are also part of the efforts.

Some of the phase one improvements will include:

  1. A new ambulance entrance to the front of the hospital for timelier and more direct ambulance access to the Emergency Department
  2. Improved internal access points between ancillary support departments that service Emergency Department and inpatient units
  3. Expansion and separate entrance for the outpatient specialty clinic, which will allow for easier access for patients and practitioners
  4. Remodel and expansion of the Surgery Department to create more capacity for surgeons performing outpatient surgeries.

“We are truly excited about the opportunity to review the current and upcoming needs of healthcare in Magee and the surrounding communities, and work toward modernizing the infrastructure to position the hospital accordingly,” said Gregg Gibbes, CEO of MGH. “For more than 75 years, this hospital has been committed to the local community. These efforts are a continuation of that commitment.”

For over 75 years, Magee General Hospital’s goal has been to meet the healthcare needs of its community through progress and a commitment to excellence. Magee General Hospital is dedicated to meeting the challenges of the future and assuring the people of its community that they will receive quality healthcare at a reasonable cost.

Mendenhall and Magee hospital’s will be nothing but band aid stations because they have removed the real doctors that know how to administer real medicine and also how to run a hospital. You cannot have a hospital ran by administrators and nurse practioners. Been there and done that with both hospitals and it ain’t funny folks!!!
