Maggie Jewel Peacock, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was born on May 20, 1934, in Bushtown, Mississippi, to Bennie and Beuna Lee.

Jewel was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Clyde Lavell Peacock, and her siblings: Louise Cliburn, Bobbie Coats, Jean Prine, Earl Lee, and Floyd Lee. She is survived by her dear sister, Madge Sanders, who will carry forward the loving memories they shared.

Jewel was a devoted mother to her three children: Sondra Howard (David) of Brookhaven, Karon Threet (Phil) of Arkansas, and Bobby Warren (Lisa) of Mendenhall. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Amber McKenzie (Leslie), Joshua Hymel (Jessica), Lacy McIntosh Bounds, Nicholas McIntosh (Amy), and Tyler Warren (Sarah). Maggie was also blessed with great-grandchildren Christina Howard (Nick), Olivia Williams, Noah Kramer, Nicholas Bounds, and Bayleigh Warren, as well as a great-great-grandchild, Coleson Howard.

Jewel dedicated 20 years of her life to serving the community at the tax collector’s office, where her warmth and commitment left a lasting impression on those she worked with. Jewel’s family will remember her as a source of unconditional love and support, a woman whose laughter could light up any room, and a matriarch who brought the family together. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Sanders, Stanley Sanders, Eric Snellgrove, Tyler Warren, Nick Bounds, and Josh Hymel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Sanders.

Special music will be performed by Carla Sanders.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall, 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall. Burial will follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Bro. Patrick Sanders will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse U.S Disaster Relief.

Rest in peace, ‘Memaw Jewel’. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
