Magee Mayor Dale Berry announced the annual Magee Christmas Parade will be Tuesday, December 8, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Mayor Berry Announced the city will be closed Wednesday for Veteran’s Day. There will be no garbage collection on this day. A Veterans Day celebration will be held at the Civic Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. Representative Price Wallace will be the guest speaker.
Berry advised the board that a home located at 1st Ave and 2 homes located on Goodwater road had been demolished and cleaned up.
Mayor Berry advised he was very upset about the incident that happen over the weekend on Main Street at the Vault. During the Halloween celebration a fight broke out causing damage to a neighboring business. Berry advised he would take the blame for this one, but it will not happen again. He did not condole that type of toxic atmosphere. Berry advised “Magee would not be known as the Wild Wild West.” A building was damaged and the person responsible will be held accountable. Berry has asked the police department to be aware and site any open container violations. The Fire Marshall has been asked to make sure the capacity of the property is noted. Berry advised “there was an awful accident the police were working and to have to be called off of a wreck to handle a brawl was inexcusable.”
During public comments Merika Kalman, owner of the Vault, came before the board and apologized for the actions that took place over the weekend. She advised the board this type behavior will not happen again. Kalman does not condone that type of behavior.
The board approved an ordinance to close a portion of Pine Wood Drive located in the Bigland Heights Subdivision.
With no further business the meeting was recessed until November 17, 2020.
