MAGEE TROJANS JV BASEBALL DEFEATS MCLAURIN

The JV turned in an impressive win in defeating McLaurin 9-1 on a beautiful day for baseball on March 21st.   Brandon Lyons went the distance for the Trojans in earning the win by striking out 4 and only giving up two hits.   The Trojans jumped on the Tigers 6-0 in the first inning. In the second, Josh Sanders, shut the Tigers down with an outstanding unassisted double play to end the inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Mason Curlee got the Trojans started with a single and then after the Trojans loaded the bases, Zack Teater cleared them with a triple and the Trojans led 9-0.   Teater led the Trojans with 4 RBIs. Teater had double duty on this day, also playing first base for the varsity.   The Trojans held the Tigers scoreless in the top of the 4th in thanks to a spectacular throw to the plate by centerfielder, Etoya Traxler, and an outstanding tag by Chandler Pittman.   Brennan McNair led off the bottom of the 4th with a double in the gap, but the Trojans were unable to capitalize.   McNair had 2 hits on the day.   Josh Sanders led the Trojans with 3 hits. The Tigers would push one across the plate but Lyons then shut the door for the complete game victory.

The JV Trojans are an important part of the program. They are helping to build continued success for the Trojans on the diamond.     They don’t leave after their JV games and stay in the dugout supporting the Varsity.   Chandler Pittman, 8th grader, has been the first off the bench in the varsity games to pinch run for the Trojans giving them an extra threat on the base path.
