The Magee Trojans showcased grit and resilience Friday night, pulling off a dramatic 36–35 win over Jefferson Davis County in one of the most thrilling contests of the season. After a dominant win the previous week, Magee proved they can battle through adversity and win the close ones too.
Head Coach Chase Courtney reflected on the effort, saying:
“Really wild game last night. Proud that our guys did not quit when they had loads of adversity. They kept fighting after going down 2 scores and executed when it mattered the most. There was a lot to correct, but a lot to grow on. Braeden Gregory took over, and was the best player on the field.”
With the win, Magee improves to 5-1 and extends its winning streak to four games. Jefferson Davis County, now 2-4, came up just short in a game that went down to the wire.
Looking ahead, Magee will face McLaurin on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Trojans could be poised for a big offensive night against a Tigers defense that’s allowing 39 points per game.
Jefferson Davis County, meanwhile, will look to rebound when they take on Seminary at 9:00 p.m. Friday.
