The Magee Police Department received two new Tahoes on Thursday, strengthening the department’s fleet and boosting morale among officers. The delivery comes as part of an ongoing effort by Chief Denis Borges, Mayor Mark Grubbs, and the Board of Aldermen to modernize and expand the department’s resources.
Building up the fleet has been one of Chief Borges’ priorities since taking leadership of the department. With the arrival of these two vehicles, the department now has 14 vehicles in rotation. Chief Borges and Sergeant Shane Fewell will be assigned to drive the new Tahoes, while their current vehicles will be reassigned for use by other officers.
The Tahoes are 2024 models, purchased with full warranties and zero miles. To maximize efficiency and reduce cost, the vehicles were ordered with an administrative package rather than being fully equipped with police lights. According to department leadership, this option is both practical and cost-effective for administrative use.
The acquisition of the new vehicles was the result of months of careful planning and negotiations to secure the best price for the city.
Chief Borges continues to emphasize providing officers with the tools and resources needed to serve the community effectively, noting that improving the department’s fleet is a key part of ensuring officer safety and readiness.
