Magee Police Chief Chris Jones releases the following information regarding two arrest this past weekend.

PRESS RELEASE

On Friday 8/6/2021 a black Volkswagen Jetta fled Officers with the Magee Police Department and Simpson County Sheriff’s Department from Magee to an area near Waters Rd. where the driver exited the car and fled on foot.  Rankin County K-9 units responded and assisted.  Several hours later, thanks to help from citizens in the area and a large Law Enforcement presence, the driver gave up and was arrested without further incident.  The suspect was identified as Obinze Ekeogu originally from Georgia.  Ekeogu was charged with Felony Fleeing and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.  He was also WANTED out of Georgia for numerous Felony Offenses including Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment, Home Invasion, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony.  Ekeogu has agreed to waive his extradition back to Georgia and has been bound over to the Simpson County Grand Jury.
