On July 22, 2016 at approximately 2200 hours., during a surveillance of a local car dealership; Magee Officers spotted a Chrysler 300 with out of state plates make a u-turn in front of the vehicles. This vehicle was scene several more times in neighborhoods. Officer Dusty Drennan stopped this vehicle at Wal-Mart at 2337 hours driven by Wilburn Pogue of Las Cruces, New Mexico with a strong order of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers Chris Jones, Lin Easterling, Jamie Foster, Will Douglas, Shane Fewell, and Lt. Womack assisted in stop. Pogue was arrested by DUI Officer Shane Fewell for DUI other substance, possession of marijuana in motor vehicle, possession of paraphernalia, and felony possession of controlled substance codeine. Several other passengers from Las Cruses, New Mexico were in the vehicle with large amounts of cash.
The passengers said they were driving around Magee neighborhoods buying foreclosed houses. Quinton Gillard from Las Cruses, New Mexico was arrested for possession of paraphernalia, open container. Donald Hynes was arrested for possession of marijuana in motor vehicle and possession of paraphernalia. Tyrone Buchanan from Hollandale, MS was arrested for possession of paraphernalia. Officers found several bags of marijuana, jar of marijuana, and bottle of codeine syrup. The cash $21, 550 was seized, pending administrative forfeiture.
