On April 9, 2020, at approximately 5:06 PM, Magee Police Department Captain Chris Jones attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations.  The vehicle failed to stop and then proceeded to flee from Jones.  The vehicle was driving at a very high rate of speed and was being operated without due regard for human life.  Captain Jones pursued the vehicle into the county and eventually to Jeff Davis County where the subject hit a ditch and disabled the vehicle.  The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase.  Magee Police Department Officers Mike Davis, Lin Easterling, and Billy Seghini arrived and took the passenger of the vehicle into custody.  The fleeing vehicle was found to have been stolen out of the City of Bay St. Louis and also a large amount of alleged Methamphetamine was found inside the vehicle.  The driver was identified as 34 year old Havard McDonald.  The passenger was identified as 33 year old Santana Keyes.  Havard McDonald was charged with Felony Fleeing, Possession of Methamphetamine, and possession of a stolen vehicle.  Santana Keyes was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a stolen vehicle.  Both McDonald and Keyes were found to be out on felony bond for prior charges.

Chief Randy Crawford wanted to show his appreciation for the Simpson County Sheriff Department, Jeff Davis County Sheriff Department, and  Mississippi Highway Patrol (Troop C and Troop J) for the assistance in the apprehension of the suspects.
