Magee Optometrist Steven T. Reed Elected to American Optometric Association’s Board of Trustees

ST LOUIS (July 12, 2016)—Steven T. Reed, O.D., President of Family Vision Clinic in Magee, has been elected to serve on the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) Board of Trustees. The AOA represents more than 39,000 doctors of optometry and other eye care professionals. Dr. Reed was sworn into office on July 2, 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts, during the association’s annual Optometry’s Meeting®.

Over the coming year, Dr. Reed will serve as liaison trustee to the AOA’s Affiliate Relations and Membership Group, and to affiliate associations in the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Dr. Reed previously served on the AOA Communications/Public Affairs Committee. He also served as the AOA National Keyperson Coordinator for Mississippi. Dr. Reed is a past president of the Mississippi Optometric Association (MOA) and Southwest Optometric Society. He is chair of the MOA Long Range Planning Committee, as well as past chair of the Optometry for Progress PAC, the MOA Legislative, the Assistance to Graduates and Undergraduates, and Nominations committees. He is also chair of the Board of Trustees at Southern College of Optometry, and Trustee for SECO International (Southern Council of Optometrists).

A graduate of Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Reed was the 2010 recipient of the MOA James P. Brownlee Optometrist of the Year Award. Dr. Reed also owns practices in Forest, Clinton, and Collins, Mississippi.
