Magee Middle School 1st Annual House Day
What is the purpose?
To unite the school population in order to improve
our sisterhood, community, environment and
individuals’ attributes through healthy competition,
cooperation, collaboration and leadership.
Goal…..
Creation of small, core groups of students who are
positively engaged and take ownership in their household
community
It is inclusive….
We will provide a range of activities that are academic,
creative and sports related so that all are able to contribute.
All staff will be linked to a house.
Students will become leaders in the school.
There will be pupil voiced activities.
On Friday Students were allowed to spin the wheel to determine their house membership. There were concessions that were available during House Pride Time. At 2:00 the students had a house meeting in Trojan Park followed by a House Block Party with Cheerleaders, band, and house presentations.
The name of the houses are:
Altrismo – Green House
Amistad – Yellow House
Isibindi – Purple House
Reveur – Blue House
The house spinning rules were as follows:
Students will spin the wheel to determine their house membership
There will an average of 145 students in each house
No Do-overs unless a house is full or a spin is incomplete
The Spin order was as follows:
- Superintendent Scholars
- Honor Roll
- Perfect Attendance
- No Discipline
- All Others
The students as well as the staff seemed to have a fun filled day.
