I love when people send me info about the awesome people of Magee! SFC Lloyd Walker shared a story that brightened my day and made me very proud!

A co-worker of Lloyd received a phone call Tuesday from a mutual National Guard buddy in Missouri.  The call was asking for help for one of their young soldiers who was in route from Missouri to Camp Shelby.

The soldier’s car had broken down in a small town in Mississippi called Magee.  The Guard guy in Missouri knew Lloyd was from Magee and made the call.

⚽ WORLD CUP QUESTION OF THE DAY!

June 20, 2026

Lloyd took over!  He called his friend John Hosey who happened to be on his day off.  As soon as John learned a solider was involved, he headed back to Magee.  John rescued the vehicle off the side of the road and took him to O’Reilly’s. They got all parts needed and called another John, John Warren, to assist with putting the parts on the car.  I’m sure neither John Hosey nor John Warren knew the impact they had on this young soldier’s life.

Not only did they help this soldier get his vehicle off the road and repaired, they kept this young soldier from losing a very important  slot to help his advancement in the military.

Had this young soldier not made it to Camp Shelby that day by a certain time, he would have lost his slot in the class.

After everything was done,  Lloyd  received a call back from the Missouri unit thanking us for all of our help. They stated that the young soldier commented that he had never had that much help or support from anyone in his own town or State much less from total strangers.

“Makes me Proud to have Great Family and Friends and Be from a Great little town of Magee where people still care,” said Lloyd.

I love Magee—we live in a wonderful city.
