Press Release from MGH!

Magee General Hospital (MGH) announced the hiring of Sean Johnson as the CEO for the Hospital and Clinic System. Sean is coming to MGH from Baptist Health System as he was the CEO of Baptist Medical Center, Yazoo City since 2013 and then later in his tenure at BMC Yazoo City, he was also named the CEO at Baptist Medical Center Attala in Kosciusko , acting in this dual role for the last 11 months.
Sean is a native of Mississippi as he grew up in central Mississippi and attended the University of Mississippi-Oxford where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and 2 years later, graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. Sean was the CEO of Quitman County Hospital, LLC in Marks, Mississippi for 6 years before joining Pioneer Community Hospital Aberdeen/ Ackerman where he was the CEO from 2010 to 2013. He then joined the Baptist system in 2013.

The Board of Trustees interviewed 4 very experienced, knowledgeable candidates and selected Sean based on his accomplishments in his previous CEO roles, focusing on his abilities to engage staff, recruit and work with the medical staff community, and build and engage communities and their resources necessary to support a delivery system/hospital. Sean has already leased a home here in Magee and is looking forward to starting to work on resolving the challenges facing Magee as well as the other rural hospitals and health systems in MS. and the U.S.
