VFW Post 9122 members Larry Berry, Harry Williams and Leo Windham presented MES Principal Paul Lawrence and music teacher Tammy Sanford with a new American flag to be placed in the school’s gymnasium.

According to Berry, plans to donate a flag to the school emerged after attending the MES Veterans Day program, which honored veterans and current service members from across Simpson County.

“We noticed the school didn’t have a flag in the gym during the Veterans Day program, so we wanted to donate a flag to be housed in the gym,” said Berry.

Since then, Berry and Sanford have worked closely together to make the donation possible.

“We are thankful for the VFW of Simpson County for thinking of our school and donating such a beautiful flag to us,” said Sanford.
