Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 6:30 at the City Hall. Mayor Jimmy Clyde called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer by Lane Steele.

Work Projects and Committee Reports were discussed.

Representatives from Polk’s Meat met before the board to ask for a resolution of intent for up to a 10 year tax exempt for renovations being made to the refrigeration equipment within the plant. Polk’s has been located in Magee for 15 years. The board approved to accept the Resolution of Intent.

Kristy Gutherez and Felicia Hall from the Department of Corrections were present to make the board aware of changes being made to the Community Work Center. The name will be changed to Technical Violation Center. The board questioned changes that the work center was making and asked that the ladies discuss with their directors the concerns of the board.

Mr. Leonard Bubsy met before the board asking about placing a new billboard sign. The board advised them of the zoning codes. The board will do additional research  before considering a new billboard.

Claims docket was approved.

The fire or water department had no new business.

In police matters, Chief Randy Crawford asked permission for 8 officers to attend a Law Enforcement Trauma Workshop January 27, 2016. The class is free.  Board approved the request for travel. Chief also asked permission for 2 dispatchers to attend re-certification classes cost $450.00. Board approved.

Mayor Clyde was happy to report that the Health Department Water Inspection Report was back and Magee received a score of 5 , which is an excellent score.

With no further business, the meeting to the public was adjourned and the board went into executive session.
