Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, April 20, 2022 for their regular scheduled meeting.

Mayor Dale Berry advised regular scheduled mowing would begin on Hwy 49 Wednesday, April 21, 2022.

Animal Control Officer Michael Andrews was granted permission to attend a Code of Ethics class at the State Veterinarian Office in Jackson.

Kim Jackson was approved to attend the Court Clerk Conference in Biloxi June 27th.

The board approved the resignation of Dispatcher Angie Fortenberry effective April 6, 2022. Chief of Police Allen Martin advised the board the dog handler is now certified. Jordan Zimmerman was hired as a full-time officer.

Alderman Mark Grubbs questioned leaks in the town that had been repaired but no asphalt has been added. Grubbs would like to see these repair areas addressed as soon as possible.

The Board of Aldermen approved the purchase and instillation of security cameras for the City of Magee.  A total of 19 cameras will be installed. The cost for the Fusus Core System is $54,950. The security cameras will be strategically located throughout the city as well as available for area business. The security cameras will be placed at Ural Everett Park, cemetery, McNair Springs, walking track, Marvin Jackson Park,  as well as high traffic or crime areas.   

Shane Steele Code Enforcement Officer met before the board concerning property located at 158 Simpson Hwy 149, Magee, Ms.  Numerous attempts with owner have proven fruitless. Steele is asking the board to move forward with the next step to deem the property unclean and an unhealthy environment. A public herring will be held May 17, 2022 concerning the property.   

The Magee Development and Improvement Committee has scheduled a work day for May 19, 2002 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The work will be done at the Magee Police Department.

The Goodwater Community will host a clean up day in their community Saturday, April 23, 2022 starting at 8:00 a.m. For more information contact Alderman Patrick Brown.
