Under New Business, the claims docket was approved.

Chief Randy Crawford presented to the board a potential new hire, Shan Freeman. Shan is married to Kevin Freeman and mother of two children. Presently, she works for Mendenhall Police Department and Simpson County Sheriff’s office as dispatcher. She is seeking the position of jailer/dispatcher at Magee PD. The board gave the go ahead to get paper work completed and background check on the candidate.

The Fire Department nor Public Works had any business at this time.

A request to look into the removal of a tree located at Lamar and Atkinson Drive NE was discussed. The decision was to investigate to see if tree was on the ride a way of the city and if so to see about having it removed.

Approval for four to attend the MML and Mid Winter Conference January 12th – 14th was approved.

Mayor Clyde presented to the board a design proposal for the splash pad. Motion was to approve the bid for the design and concept of the Splash Pad. All were in favor.

Other new business is the potential of a driver licensing office to locate in Magee. Mayor Clyde and Chief Randy Crawford met with the Department of Safety and were able to narrow down two possible locations of the site, Magee Civic Center, or Magee Community House. It is unsure at this point if the office would be open one day a week or once a month. The office would start as a test site and then reassess the need. The board gave the Mayor permission to go ahead with a written letter to the Department of Safety wanting to move forward with this proposal.

No further business and meeting was recessed until December 15th, 2015.
