Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
Mayor Berry mentioned the City of Magee had several employees with numerous years of service. He is grateful for the employees who continue to work and service the City of Magee.
Board meting for January has been moved to Thursday, January 3, 2019 due to first Tuesday falling on a holiday. Meeting will start at 6:30 pm.
The board will hire a new public defender in the January meeting to fill the resignation of Whit Fortenberry. Anyone who would like to apply is encouraged to do so.
The board approved the annexation for Spring Leak subdivision.
CSpire signed a 5 year lease to rent the tower by police station.
In recreation business Magee High School asked for a $1,300 net for sportsplex. A decision on the net will be made in the January meeting.
In police matters, Chief Randy Crawford, presented a letter of resignation from Mike Davis as a full time police officer. Mike is pursing a different job. Chief Crawford asked the board to keep Davis on as a part time officer. Board approved the request. Chief Crawford asked for the board to approve Brian Green to be moved from a part time officer to full time. Board approved request. Chief Crawford asked for approval to hire A J Bowen as a jailer and dispatcher. Board approved the request.
The board approved the proposal from Andy Norrris, Southern Corrosion, to perform maintenance work on water tower. Approval had to be made by December 20, 2018 to avoid price change.
Magee City Hall will be closed Monday December 24 & 25th for Christmas Holidays.
City Hall will also be closed December 31, 2018 and November 1, 2019 for New Year’s.
There will be no garbage collections during these days.
