Jackson, Miss.—Eight hearings for Initiative Measure 42 and Alternative Measure 42A will be held across the State.  The Secretary of State’s Office is required by State law to hold at least one hearing in each of the old five Congressional districts.

“Our Agency wants to give as many Mississippians as possible the opportunity to attend one of the initiative hearings.  We have scheduled more hearings than required in geographically proportionate areas across the State to grant more access to our citizens to have a voice in this process,” says Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann.

Secretary Hosemann adds, “This is true democracy in action.  Each side will be given the opportunity to voice his or her opinion on both Initiative Measure 42 and Alternative Measure 42A and the public will be given the opportunity to comment.”
