Lyndell Ainsworth Herrington, 98, of Magee, MS went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 11, 2026 at the Arrington Living Center in Collins, MS where she lived for eight years. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Arrington for the incredible care they gave to Mrs. Lyndell.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 10:00 am until the service at 12:00 pm at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS. Burial will follow in Goodwater Cemetery.
Lyndell was a woman whose life was defined by her unwavering faith, love for her family, and servant’s heart. A devoted member of Goodwater Baptist Church, she was deeply involved in her church family, serving in many different capacities throughout the years. She especially loved Southern Gospel music and was always eager to invite friends to join her in worship and fellowship.
She found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved sewing, tending to her flowers and garden, shopping, and preparing meals for those she loved. She was an exceptional cook and was especially known for her delicious fried chicken, a meal that family and friends always looked forward to enjoying around her table.
She had a special place in her heart for caring for others. When she was able, Lyndell served as a private sitter for the elderly, offering comfort, compassion, and companionship. She also loved watching football, especially cheering on the New Orleans Saints.
Above all, She treasured her family. She was a devoted grandmother, and great-grandmother who never missed an opportunity to support those she loved. Whether attending ballgames, school events, or other special occasions, she could always be found proudly cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her kindness, generosity, faithful spirit, and unconditional love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lyndell was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Chester Puckett and Betty Mae Ainsworth Puckett; her beloved husband, Olice Herrington; her son, Frank Herrington; her great-grandson, Bryce Humphrey; her brothers, D.C. “Jimmy” Puckett of Magee, Dennis K. Puckett of Braxton, Denford A. Puckett of Forest, Bobby Puckett of Pearl, and Billy Puckett of Magee; and her sisters, Eurnae Traxler of Monroe, Louisiana, Lona Beatrice Little of Mize, Ferda Mae Maddox of Magee, and Betty Lou Ainsworth of Taylorsville.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane White (Roger); her daughter-in-law, Judy Herrington; her cherished granddaughters, Jennifer Green (Amie), Kendra Humphrey ( Adam); four gret-grandchildren, Lakyn Hunt ( Casey), Macy Albritton (Landon), Kaley Crysel (Kyle), and Addison Humphrey; She was also survived by eleven great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Evergreen Baptist Church Building Fund.
