LuAnn Sasser Bailey, 60, of Mendenhall, passed away on January 24, 2024. She was born June 3, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of David F. and Emily M. Sasser. She was a graduate of Mendenhall High School. She married John R.(Ricky) Bailey on June 7, 1990.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She worked many years in Mendenhall, which included time as the librarian and retiring from the Circuit Clerk. She loved time with her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, she was their biggest fan in the crowds. She was always up for a shopping day, road trips with Ricky just for a bite to eat, planning beach trips, Christmas, and all things Christmas.
Survivors include her spouse, John R. Bailey; brother, David F. Sasser, Jr and wife, Linda; children Matthew Womack, wife Courtney and children Ethan, Nathan, and Collan; Kristen Steele, husband Timothy, and their children Owen and Harrison; Brian Bailey, spouse Bethany and their children Westin, Lincoln, and Selah; Laine Staten and her children Beta, Millie and Charlie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Sellers.
The family will have a private visitation at 9 am, then invite all friends and family to attend the funeral mass at 10 am on Saturday, January 27, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Jackson, MS, with Father Nick Adam as celebrant and burial at the Mendenhall City Cemetery at 12:30.
Saturday, January 27th
9 AM – Visitation (Cathedral Center)
10 AM – Funeral Mass (Cathedral Church)
12:30 PM – Burial at Mendenhall City Cemetery
We ask that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
