LT. GOV. REEVES ON PASSAGE OF
CHURCH PROTECTION ACT
The state Senate passed legislation to allow church congregations to establish security precautions where members can carry firearms to protect fellow churchgoers, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves said today.
Designated security members would participate in a firearms training course and carry an enhanced concealed carry permit. House Bill 786 returns to the House for consideration.
“Unfortunately, our nation has seen tragic incidents carried out in places of worship,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “Mississippians should be able to attend church knowing they have security measures in place to protect them from anyone trying to do them harm.”
