Melvin Brown, 87, of Magee, MS, passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He was born December 26, 1932 to parents, Wayne and Odie Mae Brown, of Magee.

A private family graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 15 at 2:00 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Magee. Rev. Roger Lee will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willibol Echols and Cozy Mae Echols; two brothers, Burnell Brown and Verlon Brown; and a son, Terry Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Jonnie Rose (Joan), of 64 years; sons Bobby Brown (Traci) of Mendenhall, Gary Brown (Mary) of Magee; daughter, Kimberly Brown Jones of McHenry; grandchildren Chris Brown, Stephen (Jennifer) Brown, Tyler (Haley) Brown, Abi Brown, Brandalyn Brown Ladner (Brennan), Lake Jones, Jackson Jones, and Jordan Jones; great grandchildren Regan Brown, Graceland Brown, Marissa Brown, Aubrey Brown, Kendall Brown, Kaden Brown, and Brelyn Ladner; sister, Joyce Brown of Magee and sister-in-law, Nancy Kendrick of Gonzales, TX.

Melvin retired after 47 years with Cal-Maine Foods. Melvin loved gardening and being outdoors.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew. Honorary pallbearers will be his two granddaughters.
