Ahhh … Valentines Day. The time of year when every heart turns to thoughts of love.
Now most young people of my generation turned to cards , flowers or huge heart-shaped boxes of chocolate candles.
But another alternative given to us was the popular various artists albums produced by K-Tell . These were albums with “Today’s Hits ” by ” Today’s Artist “.
The K-Tell albums were always titled by different themes; Emotions, The Hot Ones , Star Tracker , Dance Fever.
There was an album produced for every occasion and almost every ” Emotion “.
The “Emotions ” album included such love songs as ” I Go Crazy” by Paul Davis and ” Sometimes When We Touch ” by Dan Hill .
These albums were very popular during my teenage years. For teenagers with not a lot of cash, they provided an inexpensive way to have a lot of hit songs.
Now these weren’t sold at the Be-Bop Record Shop or any of the classic record stores of the day. These were usually found at stores like Woolco , TG&Y or K-Mart.
I have several of these from my teenage years. I don’t play them as often as I do my “Original ” albums from the different groups.
But it’s still a good trip down memory lane to pull them out occasionally and remember the days of the K-Tell albums.
So if the mood is love and you can find a copy of ” Emotions ” from K-Tell, the old songs may just bring back the old feelings!
