Lonnie D. Lard, 81, of Nashville, passed from this life Sunday, August 9,
2015 peacefully at his home in Nashville, TN.
Lonnie was born in Pensacola, FL in 1934 to the late Lonnie W. and Mildred
Lard. He served in the U.S. Army, taught business courses at the University
of Memphis and at Auburn University, and was instrumental in the development
of numerous restaurants including Ireland’s, TGI Fridays, and Corky’s BBQ.
A devoted husband, Lonnie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44
years, Amelia Sullivan Lard of Mize, MS. He is survived by his daughters,
Deborah Michelle Wray of Spokane, WA, and Sharon Suzanne Blaze of Nashville,
TN, his sister Iyolene “Pinky” Arnold and his brother-in-law Jack of
Pensacola, FL. He was the proud “Papa” of seven grand-children whom he loved
very much.
A graveside service for family members will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday
August 13, 2015, at the Alex Sullivan Cemetery in Mize, MS. Bro. John Barnes
will officiate. A memorial service will be held in Nashville, TN, on Sunday,
August 16, at 2pm at the Belmont Village Senior Living, 4206 Stammer Place.
All of his friends are invited to celebrate Lonnie’s life and remember his
kind and friendly spirit.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Wray, Christopher Wray, David Wray, Charles Wray,
Christian Blaze, Mark Ladner, and Kirk Ladner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
American Heart Association in his memory.
