Around 7 PM Monday, 61 year old Anthony Watts was found dead on Old Byram Road in Jackson. Mr. Watts is a citizen of Magee with strong family ties to the community. Pastor Watts was married to Paula Logan Watts.
The JPD investigation showed that Mr. Watts pulled on to the side of the road to help a white male who appeared to have crashed his motorcycle. The motorcycle was stolen.
The suspect is Dylan Arrington one of the escapees from the Hinds County Detention Center. Arrington shot Mr. Watts several times and stole his truck. (Red Dodge Ram 1500 Tag #(SP1) 4067
The shooting death occurred just before the Byram City limits.
The truck was last seen heading south on 1-55.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

My God be with his family. We live in a cruel evil world. It’s sad when a person stops to what he thought was a person in need and they lose there life. I don’t want to even say anything ugly but I will say the suspect will be tried twice. I thought he will like his 2nd trial.
This is so sad! He was a good Samaritan and lost his life. God rest his soul and give peace and comfort to his family.

So sorry for this tragedy to happen to such a good Godly man. He truly was a martyr giving his life to help those that our Father called him to help. My prayers will continue to be with all who knew him
I am so sorry to hear about Paster Watts. I’m from Louisiana & helping people is what we do. It’s sad when you lost your life over something like this. I’m praying for his family, this is truly heartbreaking. 🙏🏼💙😘🙏🏼
