The 3rd Company of the Washington Artillery visited Simpson Academy today to present a Civil War living history presentation. History teacher, Kevin Davis, and his cannon group, The 3rd Company of the Washington Artillery, set up camp on the Simpson football field. His group demonstrated how their cannon fired and each of their positions in the cannon group. Emily Davis presented the 5 flags of the Confederacy to the students, and her brother, Jacob Davis, demonstrated how to fire his Civil War riffle. As Kevin and Jacob Davis pulled the rope of the cannon, a “boom” filled the field. As the final cannon sounded, Allen Chambers shouted, “Go Cougars!” signaling the end of the presentation.
