Linda Hooks Smith passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at her home in Foley, AL, surrounded by family. She was born on November 20, 1941, to Troy Cecil Hooks Sr. and Hazel Maude Jones Hooks in Mendenhall, MS.
To Linda, family was everything. She grew up in a family with brothers and sisters and wanted the same thing for her children. Spending time with them and their get-togethers was important to her and brought her great joy. She enjoyed gardening and working with beautiful flowers. She’s always enjoyed singing, too. Living in Foley, she found the beach peaceful and liked going there as much as possible.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Troy Cecil Hooks Sr. and Hazel Maude Jones Hooks Graham; brothers, Charles Ray Hooks, Jerry Hooks, and Troy Hooks.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Darrell Smith; their ten children, Terry Marbury (RaeLynn), Mark Marbury (Taffy), Curtiss Marbury (Terrie), Jerry Smith (Angie), Tammy Sims (Alan), Angel Bailey (Craig), Missy Thompson, Vicki Harris (Bryan), Jim Smith (Donna) and Kimbel Wells (Valeria); sister Wanda Hilton; brother, Johnny Graham (Margaret); and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
