The Scriptural passage chosen for this morning was taken in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.” The apostle, as ever, addresses new Christian converts, telling them of various ways in which their allegiance and devotion to God will set them apart in the eyes of the world. Not that they will be lifted up, but, rather, that the source of their good deeds will be recognized and cause others to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. We can let our “light” shine, as did those early Christians, by sharing with others the love, joy, and kindness Jesus shares with us. Let us be diligent in our devotion to Jesus.
