The Scriptural passage for this morning is found in Proverbs 3:3-4: “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Love and faithfulness are key attributes all Christians must possess if we are to please God. They are to be an integral part of our character as we interact with our fellow man. If we feel ourselves lacking in either, we have simply to ask. As one of my favorite gospel songs puts it: “Does your life as a Christian seem lonely and cold? Have the rivers of joy dried up in your soul? He’s waiting to give you a fresh touch of His hand. Let Him fill you with His precious Holy Spirit again. Lord, please forgive me and fill me anew, so that I can serve and bring others to you. My voice would be empty, just a noise in the wind, unless you anoint me with Your Spirit again.” This song has spoken to me many, many times over the years, providing just the spiritual lift I needed.
