ColonialChapelLena Elizabeth McGee Thoms, 75, of Raleigh was received in heaven on February 20, 2015 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall.
Lena was a caring nurse for thirteen years at Simpson General Hospital. She loved spending time with her family, crocheting and reading.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert L. Thoms, parents Andrew and Mary Grace McGee, Daughter Donna Kay Thoms, a brother Andrew M. McGee, a great-grandson Ethan Middleton and son-in-law Mitchell Bryant.
Lena is survived by six children Regina Dickens (Danny) of Mize, Diane Bryant of Raleigh, Mary Lowery (Donnie) of Mize, Frances Meadows (Paul) of Mize, Suzanne Thoms of Raleigh and LeAnn Thoms of Raleigh, fourteen grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, brothers Loyd McGee,  William McGee and sister Mary (Dusty) Lloyd.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh.
Funeral Services will be held at South Raleigh Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 23 with burial to follow in South Raleigh Christian Church cemetery.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements.
