Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee for Lavelle Barnett, Jr., 53, of Jackson who passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at his residence.                                           Brother Tommy Don Walker and Brother Roger Lee will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Rutland Cemetery in Mount Olive. Music will be provided by Becky Phillips.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be James Price, Henry Price, Mike Hayes, Charlie Warren, David Hanna, and Tommy Kemp.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Keyes, Clyde Williamson, Jim Upchurch, Perry Sullivan, Buck Craft, and Martin Shows.
Mr. Barnett, a Simpson County native, was a welder.  He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Simpson County.  Mr. Barnett was also a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his daddy, Lavelle “Dock” Barnett, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Boykin and Lola Barnett; maternal grandparents, Otho and Janette Sasser, and Margie Rutland Sasser; his in-laws, Hershel and Vera Huff; and four cousins, James Barnett, Perry Barnett, Mike McCool, and Danny McCool.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Huff Barnett of Florence; his mother, Georgia Sasser Barnett of Magee; one step daughter, Tina G. Price of Florence; two step sons, James C. Price and his wife, Tina, and Henry Price, and his wife, Stephanie, all of Florence; one sister, Suzy Barnett Valentine, and her husband, Timmy of Bay Springs; nine grandchildren, Victoria Price, James Price, Jr., Ashley Mitchell, Kayla Loar, Rachelle Ainsworth, Matthew Lawalan, Shelby Johnston, Josh Price, and Nikki Price; one nephew, T.J. Kemp; one niece, Courtney Williams; two great nephews, Ethan Kemp and Rollen Price Williams; and a host of other family members.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee.  Family and friends may sign an online guest book at www.colonialchapelmageemendenhall.com
