Larger Than Live – Donald O’Cain

By Sue Honea

Former Sheriff Donald O’Cain died Sunday night, November 8, 2020. When I hear the words “law enforcement.” I think of several people. But, one of the main ones has always been Donald O’Cain.

Donald has been a friend for years. He truly came up the ranks of law enforcement. For years he was with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Donald O’Cain came out of retirement to serve as the Sheriff for Simpson County. He knew everyone in the state of Mississippi!

His wife Lynda and daughter Renee have been by his side through the good and bad times. Sometimes, I think it is sad when someone dies and we only remember the last few years of a person’s life. Donald O’Cain was a great lawman. One who was fair and cared for this people.

Here’s to your years of service Don O.

Arrangements will be posted as they are received.

I remember Don well from his days on the Highway Patrol. My most significant memory was the day I was discharged from the Air Force! I had driven from Biloxi to Jackson and was heading back to Biloxi. When I topped the bridge on 49 crossing 13 I was somewhat exceeding the speed limit and there was Don heading north. He stopped me for some roadside counseling and I somehow convinced him to not write me a ticket! To this day I remember his kindness. He will be missed by all!

Magee News Thank you for all the kind words about my sweet daddy. He truly loved law enforcement, family, friends and Simpson County. I will miss him immensely.
