Kyle was larger than life…not just on the football field…but in the classroom …everyone loved Kyle…from his teachers and classmates to the “little children” in kindergarten and first grade that he read to every week at Simpson Academy.
His laughter could be heard all over SCA campus…his dance moves observed all over the gym floor …. Kyle was kind to everyone…and that isn’t something I can say about everyone who passed through my house. He loved me (“Super Sue” as he called me)…and we were always up to something. My two younger sons, Larkin and Breck played on the same team with Kyle…so here’s the big game…the team is at my house awaiting the trip to the field house…and what do those guys do but get out the clippers and Kyle allows these guys to cut his hair. I doubt his mother ever forgave me…and I know Coach Moore didn’t.
Most guys never know what hit them…and sometimes, I think it is better that way….
We were not in the digital world yet…so every week, I made pictures…got them developed…and made posters for the boys of the previous game…Kids stood In line in front of the library waiting for the posting of the picture board.
All these picture boards are displayed in a room upstairs in my house…I got a few of the boards down yesterday and here are some of the pictures from the “Way We Were.”
I wonder if Kyle ever really knew how loved he was…did I tell him?…did you tell him?…did his teammates and classmates tell him?…Kyle, you were loved…admired…and respected.
Thank you for being a part of the way I am
