Kenneth Byrd
(September 8, 1960 – March 24, 2023)

Kenneth Byrd, 62 of Hammond, Louisiana passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, March 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and dog “Sophie”, due to a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Thursday, September 8, 1960, in Magee, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi. Bro. Rudy Jackson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Mr. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He spent most of his time working and welding.  The happiest times were spending time with his loving family and his friends.  He will be greatly missed by all of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Darrell Byrd; mother, Frances Lou Eason Byrd; brothers, James Dwight Byrd and Daniel Byrd; and sister, Melissa Diane Byrd.

Survivors include his loving wife of eighteen years, April Byrd of Hammond, LA; one daughter, Macee Rainey of Hammond, LA; two brothers, Michael Kevin Byrd (Kathryn) of Mize, MS, and Ronald Dale Byrd (Rose) of Schriever, LA; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byrd, Michael Byrd Jr., BJ Byrd, Bradley Green, Randy Jones, and Shannon Williams.

Patrice has been a Secretary for the Magee Touchdown Club for 19 years and President of the MS Scholars of Simpson County. Patrice was a member of the Magee Adopt A School Program. She was elected to a term on the Simpson County School Board. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Magee Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Keep Magee Beautiful Committee and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Simpson County Technical Center. Patrice is a member of the Simpson County Republican Executive Committee. Multiple times, Patrice was named Parent of the Year for Magee Schools as well as District Parent of the Year for the Simpson County School District. Patrice & her family are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
