The recipient of the 2017 Andrea Tynes Award is Sadie Kate Kennedy, of the Gerard C. Brandon Society, Children of the American Revolution, Brandon, MS.
The Andrea Tynes Award is given each year to the member of Mississippi State Society Children of the American Revolution who best exemplifies the goals, standards, and patriotism set forth by the National Society Children of the American Revolution.
Sadie Kate is very active in C.A.R. at both the local and state levels. She is the current Vice President of the Gerard C. Brandon Society, & the current Organizing Secretary of the M.S.S.C.A.R.. She has held two previous state chairmanships and one previous state office.
Sadie Kate regularly engages in Daughter of the American Revolution events across Mississippi. She stands in for the M.S.S.C.A.R. as a Page for the D.A.R. District Meetings and the D.A.R. State Conference. She often participates as a hostess at the D.A.R. supported Rosalie Mansion in Natchez, MS. Sadie Kate also represents the Children of the American Revolution through volunteer efforts in her local & state communities. Sadie Kate can be counted on to attend local, regional & state C.A.R. meetings with a smiling face & a pleasant disposition. She is always willing to help with any task, and she routinely shares her lovely voice by singing the National Anthem at C.A.R. & D.A.R. events. One of the things most loved about Sadie Kate is her warm, infectious personality. She is a kind, friendly young woman who is always the first to welcome visitors and new members with a smile, and to make them feel comfortable. Sadie Kate is a tribute to the Children of the American Revolution, to her community, and to all who know her.
Sadie Kate is a homeschooled student. She is the 16 year old daughter of Brian C. & Audra Kennedy, and the granddaughter of Shelby & Barbara Colson, & Bobbie Kennedy & the late Jim Kennedy.
