With workers gathered all over the city, the Keep Magee Beautiful committee and volunteers spent Saturday morning, August 28, 2021, weed eating, pulling weeds, hanging lights, trimming Magnolia trees, and picking up trash.

The triangle area in front of Berry Motors received a weeding and spraying as did the intersection of 5th Avenue and highway 149 near the Pig.

Ural Everett park got a clean up and side lights were installed.

While cruising the city park, I saw a couple and two small children picking up trash.  I just assumed they were volunteers for the clean up.  Well, this couple was traveling from Alabama to way off (I forgot the state).  Dan and Kim wanted a place they could allow their children to run and stretch their legs before hitting the road.  The couple had no idea we were in the middle of a clean up.  When arriving at the park, they just took out a garbage bag and started picking up trash!  The young children also participated.

Anne Marie Holland and her crew did a great job weed eating and picking up trash on old 49.

Shane Steele and Phillip Magee led the charge to trim the magnolia trees.  I imagine others worked with these two guys, but they were the only ones I saw.

Brent Walker worked near his home cleaning up the area where he lives.

Probably the funniest thing I saw was a car coming up the road with garbage bags on top and on the hood of the car!  I couldn’t figure out how they were even driving.  I got so excited…but I think they were taking their trash to a dumping place!

Of course Dot Nichols spent the morning bent over pulling weeds…running a blower and hollering at people!  “No one better honk at us are I am going to tell them to get out and work,” said Dot.  That was some of her “better” words.

Adam, Lacey, and Ace Evans covered Main Street as well as surrounding areas.

Daniel Baldwin worked with our group weed eating!

I really should not name names!  I am sure I have missed tons of folks.

Director of City Works Tim Brey joined the early morning clean up covering the downtown area.

Beta Club students from Magee High School worked the flower beds—they received community service hours for their participation.

Our leader Christian Carrico kept the gang moving.  Mayor Dale Berry worked in the ally behind Ural Everett park as well as spraying all over town.
