Kara Lucas, Simpson County native, was selected by the the Board of Aldermen as the Building Inspector beginning immediately.
Kara holds a double major in Interior Design and Graphic Design from Mississippi State University.
For 18 years, Kara worked in the corporate world of interior design and construction in Los Angles, CA. During this time, Kara developed a deep technical knowledge of construction documentation, extensive design management experience, an understanding of building codes across the US, Canada, Asia, and the Middle East. She has spent the last year as an adjunct instructor for the School of Design and Construction at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Kara recently moved back to Mississippi to be closer to her family. Kara is the daughter of Gloria Lucas (McAlpin House). She has purchased a home in Magee located behind the McAlpin House.
The Building Inspector’s Office will be located at City Hall.
