I’m just saying, what started the fire that burned 150 acres in Simpson County and threatened homes and our community college?

What part of the term “Burn Ban”…”Don’t Burn”…do people not understand. As someone said yesterday, “they” never think the “rules” apply to them!

No ruling has been made on the origin of the raging fire…but the info will come. What do you think should be done? According to our Simpson County Supervisors at last week’s meeting, the person/people will be fined.

I believe the culprit should be fined….but I’m just saying, what we lost will not be brought back by money….years of trees growing into majestic cover for the animals of our forest….

Probably, you are like me…I still have “holes” where Katrina uprooted trees (as you can tell, I am a tree lover) Katrina was an “act of God”…but a forest fire or any kind of fire…not so sure. Is $100-$500 a substantial punishment?

I don’t believe the fire was started on purpose…probably, no one realized what a little fire could do…what flicking a cigarette out the window could do…what grilling those burgers could do…

As we celebrate the dedication of Athens Church following destruction by a fire, we know we can rebuild…we know people of Simpson County are tough…we know people of Simpson County volunteer to save others…but do we understand the beast (fire)?

I challenge you to remind your family…about the dangers of fire.

We were blessed no one was hurt…no structures were destroyed…but the beauty and protection of that land is gone.

Let’s pray for rain to begin the rebuilding of the charred earth

I’m just saying again…don’t burn!
