A regularly scheduled School Board meeting was held July 9th. The following is a recap of the activity at the meeting:

Dr. Tom Duncan presented several board policies for the board’s approval. Most of these policies were unchanged from the year before, but must be approved by the board on a yearly basis. Most notably, the board approved a Cheerleader Constitution and a policy giving the superintendent authority to close schools in the case of an emergency.

Ms. Debbie Davis presented a Professional Development Plan for the 2015-2016 school year which was approved by the board. Ms. Davis also presented some of this year’s course offerings to the board.

A large portion of the meeting was dedicated to handling the school district’s 16th Section land. Most of the items were individuals requesting driveway easements or bids on property for hunting and fishing, which were all generally approved.

The board approved Claims Dockets, Financial Reports, Salary Scales, and the 2015-2016 Original Budget. The board was also made aware of a new insurance policy called Student Accident Insurance, which will cover student injuries sustained at field trips and sports events.

The Board also approved multiple contractual agreements and a few bid proposals for food service, janitorial services, and a universal screener and diagnostic assessment system.
