Judy Mae Knight, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her residence in Braxton, MS. She was born September 21, 1939, to Howard and Ophelia Hibley Morgan in Morgantown, MS.
Taking care of her family was Judy’s greatest joy in life. She grew up in a large household with three sisters and four brothers. Judy enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, feeding the birds that showed up at their home, and watching Westerns. She and her late husband, Duie, were longtime members of Broadmoor Baptist Church until deciding to move to Braxton. They were both very involved in church activities at Broadmoor, where she taught Sunday school for three years. Upon moving to Braxton, they became dedicated members of the First Baptist Church of Braxton. There she was in the WMU, worked with the youth group, and sang in the church choir.
Judy is survived by her sons, Duie L. Knight Jr and Joey L. Knight; daughter, Judy K. Moore (Spunky); seven grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ophelia Morgan; her husband, Duie L. Knight Sr.; siblings, Janie Mae Borders, Hester Mae Stogner, Ellen Mae Cannon, Johnny B. Morgan, James Albert Morgan, Howard Earl Morgan, and Robert Lamar Morgan.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The service will begin at noon with Bro. Timothy Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow in Braxton City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to The American Cancer Society www.donate.cancer.org or The American Heart Association www.heart.org
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall, MS.
