Johnny David Dollar, Sr., 68 of Taylorsville, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born Monday, May 24, 1954, in Magee, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi.
The burial will follow in Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi. Bro. James Fortenberry will officiate. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Cathy Smith. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mr. David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, Mississippi. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He worked at the Magee Coop for over forty years. He enjoyed mowing grass, working in his garden, fishing, spending time with his brothers from the Magee Coop, and most of all spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all of loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer M. Dollar; mother, LaDora Hughes Dollar; brother, Marion Dollar; brother-in-law’s, Dennis Ray Cockrell and Bob Gay.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Betty Craft Dollar of Taylorsville, MS; one son, Johnny David Dollar, Jr. (Cathy) of Magee, MS; two grandchildren, Macee Dollar of Mize, MS and Matthew Dollar of Braxton, MS; one great-grandson, Maverick Dollar of Braxton, MS; two sisters, Lyndel Dollar Cockrell of Magee, MS, and Jo Ann Dollar Gay of AZ; one sister-in-law, Shirley Sue Sellers Dollar of Taylorsville, MS; his loving best friend “Mingo”; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Eubanks, Mike Bruce, Jr., Steven Craft, Dennis Craft, Kirk Sullivan, and Josh Melton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harland Kennedy, Clint Rankin, and Mike Bruce, Sr.
