A 1980 graduate of Simpson Academy and a 1984 graduate of MS State University, John spent his career in the auto parts industry with his father, Tommy Everett, through Magee Auto Supply/NAPA.  John retired in 2015.

John was a member of the Magee Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief.  An avid fan and supporter of MSU, John was a member of the alumni association.  John was an advocate for handicap accessibility for public buildings.  He worked tirelessly for his son, Houston, to experience all areas of life.  He worked closely with The Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy Foundation.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Magee.

In the last years of John’s life, he battled addictions which led to his untimely death.  John will be buried next to his beloved parents in Magee City Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents Grace & Tommy Everett and a brother Steven Everett.

Survivors include his son, John Houston Everett, sister, Susan Yates (Buddy), a nephew, Spencer Yates (Brittany) and one great nephew, Cohen Yates.
