John Edward Mosley was born November 16, 1953, at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He is the second oldest of seven children to George Henry Mosley Sr. and Maudie Edwards Mosley.
John graduated from Crystal Springs High School in 1972. After graduation, he worked in the auto body business as a painter. During this time, he met Carolyn Stolley Mosley, and they were married in August of 1974. They have two children Daniel Mosley (Katie) and Patty Mosley Pettis (Ben), who have given them four grandsons, ages 13, 12, 6 and 4.
Being the son of an Auto Body repairman, and having grown up in the business, the desire to learn auto body and paint repair seemed to come natural to John. In 1979, John and Carolyn, along with John’s father, George Mosley, Sr., opened Clinton Body Shop in the heart of Clinton, Mississippi. For over 35 years they have maintained a successful body shop business, keeping up with the latest technology and growing the business, with two locations in the Jackson- Metro area.
John is a founding member of the Mississippi Collision Repair Association and currently serves as President of MCRA. Additionally, John’s determination to deliver the highest quality repairs is evident by the I-CAR Gold Class status his shop has maintained for over 20 consecutive years. This claim can only be made by a small number of shops throughout the entire North American Continent.
Mosley’s dedication to fair and honest business practices on behalf of consumers, as well as his high ethical standards, has contributed to the success of his business. He realizes the everyday struggle small businesses face when trying to deliver a quality product to consumers, while at the same time, securing payment from big insurance companies for the products and services delivered.
The balancing act necessary to serve every day, tax paying Mississippians and small business owners has been an extremely educational and eye opening experience, and has ultimately inspired John’s desire in becoming the next Insurance Commissioner for the people of Mississippi.
