John Keyes Stubbs, age 86, known all his life as “Jacky Boy” passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 16, 2025 after battling Parkinson’s disease for the last several years.
Born April 14, 1938, Jacky Boy was the son of John Pierce Stubbs and Joanna Tillson Stubbs. He graduated from Magee High School in 1957, and then attended Hinds Community college. Jacky was a member of the US Army reserves for 6 years.
Jacky Boy has had various careers over his lifetime from working in the oil field in his early adulthood to owning several businesses including a dozer service, convenience store “Jacky’s Jiffy Mart”, and a grave digging service.
Jacky was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Magee where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Gideon’s international and a Master Mason in Oak Hill Lodge #553.
Jacky Boy had a passion for antique vehicles and loved working for years on his 1966 Mustand and his 1966 Ford pickup. However, his greatest love was his family. He was the patriarch of the family, AKA “Pop”, and worked tirelessly to protect and provide for his family. His girls and grandchildren knew who to call and he never hesitated to respond. Pop was known affectionally as “the enforcer” and “the fix-it man”.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Pierce Stubbs, mother Joanna Tillson Stubbs.
Jacky is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Betty Ann Hamilton Stubbs; two daughters Staci Ainsworth (Dan) of Westcliffe, Colorado and Jodi Stubbs of Snow Lake Shores, MS; grandchildren, Jamie Webster (JM) of Magee, MS, Jordan Ainsworth (Jill) of Tomball, Texas and great granddaughter, Faith Marie Ainsworth, of Tomball, TX along with a bonus daughter Laurie Ferrell of Brandon, MS and one sister, Mary Jo Duckworth (Joe) of Wiggins, MS.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Samantha and the girls at We Care at Home Care for their dedication and compassion in the last months of his life. Also, to Vital Care Home Health and Hospice for their care and support.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The service will follow at 1:00 in the Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Corbett and Bro. Dan Ainsworth officiating. A private interment will follow at Magee City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacky’s memory to Gideons International.
