John Higgins, 66, of Mount Olive, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg. He was born Saturday, March 12, 1955.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Magee.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Magee. The Burial will follow in Jesus Name Holy Hill Gospel Church in Mt. Olive. Bro. Dewitt Bain will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031.

He was loving a father to his family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Dolores Higgins; parents, Barney and Emma Higgins; daughters, Melissa Higgins, Linda Higgins, and Christina Higgins; brothers, Tommy R. Higgins, David B. Higgins, and Robert Higgins; sisters, Lilly M. Runnels, Emma J. Thornton, and Geradine Arender and husband Johnny Arender.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Higgins; son, Barney John Higgins and wife Melissa; brother, George L. Higgins; brother- in-law, AJ Runnels; sisters, Ruby L. Garner, and Lois Taylor Louise and husband Gary Amason; special niece, Peggy Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members

Pallbearers will be Devin Lee, Dakota Lee, Bradon Garner, Hulon Garner, Johnny Garner, and James Garner. Honorary pallbearers will be Barney John Higgins, Melissa M. Higgins, and Don Hill
