John Earl Hays, Sr., 81 of Magee, MS went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 11, 2024 at his residence in Magee, MS. He was born Saturday, August 28, 1943 in Weathersby, MS.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee, 302 Eighth Ave SW, Magee, MS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, MS. Bro. David Hays and Bro. Jay Hays will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

John loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was fiercely loyal, hard-working, and just an all-around good man. He will be deeply and dearly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Hays Brown; father, James Berry Hays; mother, Lamire Hancock Hays; brother, Jim Hays; sisters, Mollie Hays Sowell and Helen Barr; grandson, Hunter Degueyter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Vicki McWilliams Hays of Magee, MS; sons, David Hays (Marsha) and Jay Hays (Amanda); daughters, Tammy Hays Degueyter (Brian), Cindy Hays Peter (Steven) and Amanda Hays Lott (Andy); sister-in-law, Linda Hays; 25 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.

Pallbearers will be AJ Alwosaibi, Zachary Carr, Eric Cooley, Brandon Hays, Jasper Hays, and Jayden Hays.

Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Cooley, Sawyer Hays, Levi Hays, and Jackson Carr.
