I never know who is going to show up at my front door! Monday, I actually had a “heads up” from neighbor Don Beatty that John Cullen Maddox was coming by my house.
John Cullen was a house hold name in the early 60’s in Simpson County. He was one tough dude on the football field and one fine guy off the field.
He graduated from Magee High School in 1961 and Ole Miss in 1966. John Cullen was an outstanding Rebel making a name for himself at the University of Mississippi. John Cullen was drafted and played with the Denver Broncos. He was in the same graduating class as John Mangum. Their MHS team was undefeated!
John Cullen has a tree cutting service in Slidell, LA.
He has strong ties to Magee and keeps up with many of his classmates.
As we all know, there is no place like home and surely no place like Magee!
