Joe Ramsey Peacock was born on August 27, 1930, to Daniel and Odessa Peacock. At the age of 4, he, his sister, and three brothers lost their precious father. Many years later, his mother married R.B. Thompson, that lovingly became Pap to them. On June 12, 1948, he married the love of his life, Bobbie Bass. Together they raised 5 children. Those children have blessed them with 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews. He started his career working for Young Exploration. He then worked for Irby Construction. After that time, the family returned home to Mendenhall in 1969 and he began a career in the oil and gas industry working for H & P Drilling Company. After retiring from H & P, he spent many years showing livestock with his children and grandchildren.
In 1998, he opened his own business “Pop’s Discount” in downtown Mendenhall. There he spent many, many years serving the people of Simpson County until his recent illness. He also served on the Board of Directors of D’Lo Waterpark and the Simpson County Livestock Association. He is a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as deacon until his death. Joe had many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed showing livestock, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, hunting, fishing, helping with children’s events at church, and most of all, spending time at his family deer camp mud riding on his four wheelers with his beloved family and friends. During the morning of May 3, Joe was welcomed to his eternal Heavenly home by his “Lil Sweet”, his beloved wife of 68 years. Although we know he is in a better place sitting at the right hand of Jesus, he will surely be missed by his family and friends here on Earth.

He is preceded in death by his Wife, Bobbie Peacock , Parents, Daniel Peacock, and Odessa Thompson, Step-Father, R.B. Thompson, Grand child, Tisch Peacock, Daughter-in-law, Kimberly Peacock, Sister – Mignonne O’Neal , Brothers, Marzinne Peacock, Lavelle Peacock and Dan Peacock.
